Where to swim in the Minervois in the Summer - 2004

Two main types of swimming facility exist : swimming pools, water holes.

Water holes :
Bize-Minervois : In the commune of Bize at the heart of the village, a pool has been arranged within the bed of the river Cesse. Swimming under surveillance from 1.30 pm to 7 pm every day. Diving possible from a pontoon in a 3 m deep part of the hole. Shallow paddling area for little ones. Beware of possibly rapidly rising waters during stormy weather.
Le Boulidou : At the exit from Agel, direction Bize-Minervois. This is a natural water hole in the river Cesse. Beware of possibly rapidly rising waters during stormy weather.
La Garenne : In the commune of Mirepeisset, at the open air centre, a beach for bathing in the river Cesse. Beware of possibly rapidly rising waters during stormy weather.
Lac de Jouarres : In the commune of Azille but actually easier to access from Homps or Pepieux. A large beach with area reserved for swimming, shaded woods area, snacks, sail boards, boats.
L'Eau Piquante : Between le Boulidou and Bize-Minervois. Swimming hole in the bed of the river Cesse. Unguarded. Beware of possibly rapidly rising waters during stormy weather.
Lac de Pradèlles-Cabardès : Just outside the Minervois above Cabrespine. Altitude 800 m, water cold.
