The following directions give indications for:
|
1. From the centre of Siran village : pass through the small square in front of the church and just after the Mairie, turn left onto the Avenue du Petit Soleil. About 200 metres later, take the second road to the right. This is an unnamed narrow lane with a concrete electricity post and a street light on the corner. It has recently been resurfaced. Continue up this lane to the main road crossroads and continue straight over the junction.
This is the lane to Le Théron and you can follow the telephone poles and cable right up to "Le Théron". There are occasional little lanes going off either side but stick with the telephone line (it is about 3 kms - don’t despair).
If all else fails, there is a public telephone in the centre of Siran, near the Mairie. Call us and someone will come down to get you within about 5 minutes.
Our telephone number is 04 68 27 81 50 or 52.

2. Arrival by road from the north and west : most roads eventually lead to Toulouse. From the Toulouse ringroads, pick up signs to the A61 Autoroute, direction Montpellier.
Take the autoroute as far as Carcassonne, about 80 kms and leave at the first Carcassonne exit.
After the tollbooth, follow signs to Mazamet across four roundabouts - (left at the first, straight across the second, straight across the third, left at the fourth). At the 5th roundabout, take the first exit to the right and follow the D620 through Villalier, Villegly to Peyriac-Minervois.
In the centre of Peyriac, turn left by the Pharmacie, descend and cross a metal bridge and about 50 - 100 metres after the bridge turn right onto the D35 (becomes D52), direction Pépieux. About 8 kms further, take the left turn into Siran.
Once in Siran, refer to the instructions in 1, above.
3. Arriving by road from the north and east : make your way to the town of Béziers.
In Béziers, follow signs at first for Narbonne while looking to pick up signs for Carcassonne. (Some of the first signs for Carcassonne are not easy to see and are coupled with indications for St Pons especially just where you need to diverge from the Narbonne direction.)
From Béziers, follow signs towards Carcassonne which will lead you to the D11 to Capestang. After Capestang, when you pass from the Hérault into the department of the Aude, the D11 becomes the D5 and you continue past Argeliers, Cabezac to Pouzols.
About 5 kms after Pouzols, take the right fork onto the D52 into Olonzac.
At the roundabout, (note for future reference the Shopi supermarket on your right) take the third exit into the town centre.
At the mini-roundabout bear right towards Pepieux. Go straight through Pepieux, and about 2 kms further on turn right onto the D56 into Siran.
Once in Siran, refer to the instructions in 1, above.
4. Arrival from the east by the autoroute A9 / E 15 : Leave the autoroute at the second, western, Beziers exit (Beziers ouest). Directly after the toll booth, turn right onto the highway D64 in a northerly direction. In about 3 km, you'll pass over another highway and in about another km slip right off the D64 where it is signed 'Capestang'. At the T junction, turn left onto the D11 towards Capestang.
After Capestang, when you pass from the Hérault into the department of the Aude, the D11 becomes the D5 and you continue past Argeliers, Cabezac to Pouzols.
About 5 kms after Pouzols, take the right fork onto the D52 towards Olonzac.
5. arrival by air at Carcassonne airport : rental cars are available in the airport terminal. From the airport, the task is to navigate a series of five roundabouts before joining the D620 through Villalier, Villegly to Peyriac-Minervois.
At the airport exit, turn left onto the main road and continue for about a kilometer to the first roundabout. Turn left, taking the last exit from the roundabout, signed Toulouse (on a green indicator board), and join the Carcassonne ringroad in a northerly direction. Continue to the next roundabout where you will take the second exit (the straight on direction) signed Mazamet.
Straight over the third roundabout (still signed Mazamet) and then left at the fourth roundabout (still signed Mazamet). At the fifth roundabout, turn right taking the first exit onto the D620 through Villalier, Villegly to Peyriac-Minervois.
In the centre of Peyriac, turn left by the Pharmacie, descend and cross a metal bridge and about 50 - 100 metres after the bridge turn right onto the D35 (becomes D52), direction Pépieux. About 8 kms further, (after the old tuileries converted into a wine sales outlet) take the left turn into Siran.
Once in Siran, refer to the instructions in 1, above.
6. arrival by air via Toulouse : rental cars are available at Toulouse Blagnac airport. Leaving the airport, follow motorway signs to A61, direction Montpellier. It is about 20 kms to the start of the autoroute.
Once on the autoroute, refer to 2, above.
7. arrival by road/rail at Toulouse rail station : when leaving the road/rail depot, you’ll find yourself on a one way street alongside the Canal du Midi, Boulevard Pierre Sémard, heading south. Go past the front of the Matabiau Railway station, on your left, and at the next traffic lights intersection, turn left onto a wide road, Allée Georges Pompidou.
After a 100 metres or so, there is a very large roundabout with buildings under construction in its centre. Go half way round this island, leaving it to climb the long straight hill of Jolimont (effectively the straight-on direction if the island were not there)
Keep heading north-east for some 3 kms, through various traffic lights and occasional dog legs and you’ll arrive at the "rocade", the ring road, on the east side of Toulouse.
Turn right onto the rocade, in a southerly direction, to pick up the A61 Autoroute in the Montpellier direction. It is just under 10 kms on the rocade to the tollbooths of the A61.
Once on the autoroute, refer to 2, above.
8. arrival by air via Barcelona : rental cars are available at Barcelona airport. I am unable to provide precise details of how to pick up the A7 autoroute from the airport but Barcelona is well served by a ringroad and you should look for signs to the A7 going north towards France.
Once on the A7, head for France, via Gerona, Figueras. The autoroute becomes the A9 at the French border. Continue on the A9 past Perpignan towards Narbonne. Watch for the junction with the autoroute A61 which is about 2 kms before the Narbonne exit.
Take the A61 westwards, direction Carcassonne and Toulouse. 21 kms further on, leave the autoroute at Lezignan-Corbieres and transit the town watching for indications to the town of Homps and the road D611.
About 8.5 kms further on down the D611, you arrive at the junction with a larger main road variously labelled D610 or D11. Turn right at this junction and then left , direction Olonzac, a few hundred meters further on after crossing over the canal. In a further 2 kms or so, you will arrive at Olonzac at the roundabout in front of the Shopi supermarket. . At the roundabout, take the third exit into the town centre. At the mini-roundabout bear right towards Pepieux. Go straight through Pepieux, and about 2 kms further on turn right onto the D56 into Siran.
Once in Siran, refer to the instructions in 1, above.
